Sustainability Strategy

MES & Lean Six Sigma reduce 30% - 50% of resource usage and waste

People Profit Planet

Impact is important, and goes beyond monetary Profit. Our strategy includes People and the Planet. Equinoxia actively supports the triple bottom line, also known as the “People Profit Plant”.

  • Equinoxia’s ecological footprint is less than zero. MES and Lean Six Sigma projects typically lead to a 30% – 50% reduction of waste and resource usage, per unit produced. These are perfect examples of sustainable engineering. Also in regards of Equinoxia’s travel; all CO2 impact is fully compensated.
  • Fair trade is key for Equinoxia. Engineering code of ethics & standards are maintained. Hourly rates are fair. Equinoxia is an active member of ISA, ISPE, MESA, and operates under GAMP5, FDA, and Eudralex. Equinoxia maintains a 17th century canal house in Delfshaven. Sustainable food and travel is preferred. Equinoxia’s carbon footprint is compensated.
  • The third asset is human capital. MES strategy will ensure data integrity, information and knowledge for all stakeholders. Quality Management is listening to the Voice of the Process. Inclusive Business Change Strategy; cooperating with all knowledge workers from Operators to Chemists & Engineers to C-level,

Human Capital

In 2011, the Fourth Industrial Revolution was launched at the Hannover Messe. Industrie4.0 as well as Pharma4.0 aims to reindustrialise Europe and safeguard knowledge-based industries and jobs, supported by over €200 billion in EU funding.

While Pharma and Biotechnology are thriving, a serious labor shortage persists. The Life Sciences transformation — Pharma4.0 — has yet to fully materialize. We suffer from a critical shortage of well-trained professionals, particularly in Engineering and Quality, contributing directly to medicine supply disruptions. Many companies depend heavily on foreign talent, increasing costs and long-term risk. EU research shows that 17% of manufacturers face major difficulties due to a lack of qualified applicants.

The Life Sciences sector urgently requires Human Capital Growth: onboarding young talent and upskilling and reskilling experienced professionals. Digitalisation reduces repetitive work but increases demand for process specialists. In the Netherlands alone, approximately 1,000 operators per year require upskilling. In addition, around 100 engineers annually need reskilling in digital transformation and Pharma4.0 leadership.

Pharma4.0 has a critical foundation in Human Capital Growth. And that is not just technology but also people skills. Organisational Change Management (OCM) is required. Both Pharma4.0 and OCM are the expertise of Equinoxia.

Walk Your Talk (2026)

Once Borneo housed one of the largest tropical rainforests in the world. Today, the landscape is rapidly being destroyed by palm oil plantations, mining activities, poaching, and illegal logging.

What once was a biodiverse ecosystem has been reduced to straight lines and monocultures. Deforestation causes severe CO2 carbon sink emissions and is devastating for the habitat of endangered species like Orang-Utan.

The ecological destruction goes hand in hand with social and societal crisis. Deforestation and economic exploitation are accompanied by land grabbing. Indigenous communities — the Dayak people — are being displaced from their ancestral lands. The Dayak may be offered housing, schools, access to clean drinking water, toilets, medical clinics, electricity and 4G mobile towers, but are forced into capitalism. Traditional livelihoods disappear, social structures erode, and to make it worse … the only available employment is in the palm oil industry. Many Dayak communities have been overrun by the pace of this so-called development. But the Dayak village of Nehas Liah Bing has managed to hold its ground.

In 2004, the Dayak Wehea community declared 38,000 hectares of rainforest as protected under their customary law (Lembaga Adat), naming it Keldung Laas Wehea Long Skung Metgueen; “Wehea Protected Forest”.

Wehea received the Kalpataru Award in 2009, Indonesia’s highest environmental honour. More importantly, the Indonesian Government formally acknowledged the land rights in 2015.

The Wehea Rainforest is of exceptional ecological value. It provides a crucial habitat for about 750 Orang-Utans, as well as leaf monkeys, hornbills, sun bears and numerous endemic plant species. Even the thought-to-be-extinct Miller’s grizzled langur was rediscovered in Wehea. At the same time, Wehea is a living cultural landscape: the forest is inseparably linked to the identity, spirituality and long-term livelihood security of the Dayak Wehea people.

Equinoxia actively supports the Wehea community. It goes beyond greenwashing of CO2 compensation, knowledge and culture is exchanged. Please contact Equinoxia on how to co-sponsor: LinkedIN profil

Walk Your Talk (2023)

In 2023, Aksel got 50. Instead of throwing a big party, Equinoxia supported Technical Education in West-Africa.

Under the Equinoxia flag, we drove 7’500km to The Gambia, coaching a group of 40 Dutch Car Mechanics students. It was a great challenge for many, as European youth has often not crossed a true border … In Banjul, the students stayed for 7 extra weeks, to work & share knowledge in local Gambia garages and schools. Aksel coached a group of ROC Tilburg students on a key project for https://www.kameroenwerkt.nl/2022/08/beroepsonderwijs-in-gambia/

The Gambia is one of the poorest countries on earth. Basic schools exist, but technical education is poorly inaccessible. Your sponsorship means that Gambiese students receive better education, get a properly paid job, which will lead to better infrastructure, better road safety, and better well-being for all.
